The Society of Family Physicians of Ghana (SoFPoG), in collaboration with the Akyem New Tafo Government Hospital, organized a free health screening today, May 15, 2024, at Akyem Old Tafo in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region of Ghana.

The large turnout highlighted the significance of the health screening for local residents.

Dr. Philip Agyapong Afrifah, National Organizer of SoFPoG, explained that the event is part of their tenth anniversary celebrations, with the Eastern Region chosen for their Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The free screening included checks of vital signs, counseling, lab tests, minor surgeries, and the administration of medications. Dr. Afrifah noted that individuals with serious conditions would be referred to the nearest hospital for further treatment.

He encouraged everyone to prioritize their health and undergo regular check-ups to promote healthy living and support the socio-economic development of the country.

Hon. Eric Moore, Assemblyman for Akyem Old Tafo Ahenbronom Electoral Area, expressed gratitude to SoFPoG for addressing the health needs of his community and urged residents to take advantage of the screening program, emphasizing that a healthy nation fosters development.
